Love was well and truly in the air this past Valentine’s weekend at Jamaica Reggae Flavas, as the restaurant transformed into a vibrant hub of creativity and romance for a truly special Couples’ Sip & Paint evening, hosted in collaboration with the inspirational Dr Deb of Gilded Brush.
Held in the heart of our restaurant’s warm, reggae-infused setting, the event brought together couples of all ages for an unforgettable evening of food, fun, and fine brushstrokes.
Setting the Mood
From the moment guests arrived, the ambience was electric. Reggae classics played softly in the background, the air carried the scent of jerk spices and fresh thyme, and flickering candlelight gave the space a romantic glow. Each table was thoughtfully set up with canvases, paint sets, and glasses of wine, ready for a night of artistic adventure.
Dr Deb: Art with Heart
Leading the painting session was none other than Dr Deb, the creative force behind Gilded Brush. Known for her ability to make art feel accessible, inclusive, and deeply personal, she guided couples step-by-step through their artwork. But this wasn’t just about painting—it was about reconnecting, expressing love in new ways, and doing something playful and creative together.
Under Dr Deb’s encouraging direction, laughter filled the room as couples helped each other mix colours, swapped brushes mid-stroke, or playfully compared progress. The result? Dozens of unique masterpieces, full of personality and affection, that each pair took home as a souvenir of the night.
Flavour Meets Fun
Of course, no event at Jamaica Reggae Flavas would be complete without a taste of the islands. Throughout the evening, couples enjoyed a specially curated menu featuring all the favourites—succulent jerk chicken, tender curry goat, rice and peas, fried plantain, and the restaurant’s famous rum punch, which kept the spirits high and the conversations flowing.
Moments That Mattered
More than just a night out, this event gave couples the chance to slow down, disconnect from their busy schedules, and focus on one another. It was heartening to see pairs leaning in, sharing inside jokes, capturing candid photos, and leaving with more than just a canvas, but with a memory they’ll cherish.
A Taste of What’s to Come
The Couples’ Sip & Paint was a clear hit, with tickets selling out quickly and glowing feedback from attendees. Many called it the perfect mix of intimacy, culture, and creativity—and several asked when the next one would be.
“Thanks to @reggaeflavaz_zim in Borrowdale, Harare for such an artistic space, if you ever need to rent a cool, underground venue for your events hit them up!”
“Thank you to our cheerleaders and everyone who continues to support @the_gildedbrush in growing our brand of curate,d exclusive art & painting events in Zimbabwe.”
So if you missed out this time, don’t worry—Jamaica Reggae Flavas and Dr Deb have more magic up their sleeves. Whether it’s another paint night, a live music evening, or a food and culture fusion event, one thing’s for sure: you’ll want to keep an eye on what’s coming next.
Stay connected. Stay creative. Stay in love—with art, with culture, and with each other.
